“These poor fragments, if treated with care, always reserve some novelties”
(Isabella Andorlini)

The texts collected in this volume, stemming from the International Seminar on Unpublished Papyri from the Cairo Egyptian Museum, come from different contexts of the ancient Arsinoite district (Fayum oasis) and present some individual peculiarities that make them worthy of being edited (in some cases re-edited) and gathered together. Two Ptolemaic texts come from the archives of Asklepiades, oikonomos of the region, and of Zenon. A considerable group of the Roman texts belong to the archive of Sokrates, tax collector at Karanis. The other Roman documents comprise some nice examples of lists and accounts, a variegated group of receipts with some peculiarities, a tomos synkollesimos of census declarations from Hadrianʼs reign, a fragmentary private letter, a petition from the late archive of Isidoros. They provide new elements for our knowledge of the society, economy and everyday life of Hellenistic and Roman Egypt and material for further scholarly discussion.
